March 2011

Hello, Everyone.

Could Spring be in the air? Just about!

Anyway what's for sure is that we've got another great programme of quizwalks lined up for you in 2011.

For starters our League Champion Alan Reeves will be teaming up with Geoff Hunt to bring us the Andi'Cap quizwalk for the John Cooper Trophy from the Stepping Stones pub at Westhumble near Box Hill on Sunday 10th April.

As many of you will know, late in 2009 Chris Cooper, daughter of our founder John Cooper, rejoined our group after an absence of around 48 years! And now, for the first time since 1973 when John organised his last quizwalk, the name Cooper will again be appearing as a quizwalk organiser. Chris is teaming up with friends Andrew Cordani and Robert Collini to put together a quizwalk they'll be holding on 26th June.

Below are all the dates for this year's events and who is organising them. For detailed information about any event see the Diary & Walks section on the website or contact Roger Heath on 01737 352832 or James Biggs on 07889 384047.

My thanks in advance for all the good work our organisers will be putting in this year to make out programme a success.

Annual membership subs remain at £2 per head for adults in 2011. So have your loose change ready when you attend your first quizwalk!

We had a record number of "new faces" joining in our quizwalks last year, many of them friends of existing members. So do keep telling your friends about the walks whilst we continue to do our best through the internet to get the message out there too.

With our own children, twins Jack and Olivia, growing up fast (they'll be five in December) Penny and I are looking forward to the not too distant time when they'll be out there with us tackling the children's clues for themselves. Meanwhile if your children are old enough now do bring them along to join in the fun.

As ever I look forward to meeting up with all of you out there in the countryside sometime this year. Make a date to join us soon.

James
