February 2013

Hello Everyone,

As the New Year is now well and truly underway, I am sure you like me are looking forward to getting out in the countryside participating in the activity we all so love…Quiz Walking !!

I would like to thank all members for their support last year; we still managed to achieve good attendances, despite it being one of the wettest years since records began. Let's hope the weather will be kinder to us this year.

Also I would like to thank all walk organisers for the efforts last year in making their walks and choice of venues more children friendly.

There was some discussion at the AGM on how we can engage with the youth of today to make quizwalks more exciting for the current generation. One idea raised was to use other mediums to display kid's clues.

Roger Abbott suggested the use of pictures as well as text to set kid's clues. He is going to pilot this on his walk this year, so please make sure you invite everybody you know who has children to his walk.

We have a fantastic schedule lined up for 2013 kicking off traditionally with our Andi'cap walk organised by Roger Heath & Joyce Heywood on the 21st April from the Red Lion at Betchworth in Surrey.

Below is the full events programme for 2013. For specific information about any event look up the Diary & Walks section on our website or contact Roger Heath 01737 352832 or James Biggs 07889 384047.

A big thanks to Elizabeth and Brenda for making their comeback this year as walk organisers. I am sure they will line up a fantastic walk for us.

Annual subscriptions are to remain at £2 for adult members. Please give them to Kath Biggs (Club Treasurer) next time you see her.

Lastly, please don't forget to tell your friends and family about quizwalks and bring them along; new faces are always welcome. It has been proven over the years that "word of mouth" is by far the most effective way to introduce new people.

I will look forward to seeing you in the countryside soon.

Good quizwalking!
