March 2015

Hello Everyone,

With spring just around the corner, it won't be long now until we begin another season of Quizwalking and I am sure like me you are very much looking forward to it!!

We have a cracking schedule lined up - so thanks to everybody who has volunteered to organise a walk, especially Elizabeth Gurteen & Brenda Watson who are making a welcome return as walk organisers this year.

I would like to thank all members new and old for their support. In recent times we have seen record attendances and I am sure this year's turnout will be even better. Last year John and Amie's walk from Shalford topped the bill when 48 people came along.

There were some very exciting developments that stemmed from the recent AGM…

Robert Collini was appointed as Club Archivist; his role will be to preserve club history, which was originally started by the late Les Bradbury. Club officers are to pass on relevant documents and artefacts from previous events so Robert can collate the information.

If any members have photos of club events or any other artefacts please can they give copies to Robert as well.

We have made some changes to the rules, especially the tie break rule - so now it does not separate partners if they win the league, as long as they achieve their best five walks together. The new edition of the rules will be circulated prior to the start of the season.

Back in January a Guildford magazine wrote a feature article on things to try in 2015. Included in it was a write-up on what we do. Following on from this Roger Heath received four emails enquires. So Roger has produced some promotion material that can be published. If any members wish to contact local newspapers or magazines please ask Roger for the information.

Below is the full events programme for 2015. For specific information about any event look up the Diary & Walks section on our website or contact Roger Heath 01737 352832 or James Biggs 07889 384047.

Lastly, please don't forget to tell your friends and family about quizwalks and bring them along, new faces are always welcome. It has been proven over the years that "word of mouth" is by far the most effective way to introduce new people.

I will look forward to seeing you in the countryside soon.

Good quizwalking!

James
